Puff the magic dragon

Over the past couple of days, I noticed my 07.5 6.7 has started to blow black smoke intermittently. It's sporadic, and will throw smoke from time to time even when at a steady, cruising speed and no load. My tailpipe is really black and throwing soot on the rear bumper. But, the truck seems to run normal, and I haven't had any CELS or other messages. The arrival of the smoke has me concerned that something is cracked or leaking. The truck has 18K miles, and was updated some time ago with the AU flash (which I thought was for excessive soot). Any one out there have this happen, or can anyone give me an idea of what could be going wrong?

More than likely, your DPF is cracked. It's under warranty so the dealership will replace it and also update you to the BA flash, which is the most current for your 07.5 year model truck. The truck should run quite a bit better, most of the people I have read about who have not removed the emissions are pretty happy with the BA flash.
