P2262 (First Code Ever)

I think alot of people have had this code come up but did anyone else have the problem where you depress the throttle little more than half way and it sounds like the e-brake comes on and just lugs the **** out of it. The truck will run up to 65-70 but it won't get there fast.

The p2262 code pops when the sliding vane on your turbo gets gummed up from the kickback of the EGR system. This vane being gummed up is what it screwing with your turbo operation and making the truck run funny. You need to take it to the dealership and they will perform 1 of 3 tasks, depending on how thorough they are:

1.) They will perform a manual desoot and reflash the truck.
2.) They will drill and tap the turbo and flush it with cleaning solvent to clean the soot/carbon deposits from it. If your turbo is already tapped (either by a previous dealer visit or from a factory replacement), then it will be a simple matter of flushing it.
3.) They will replace the turbo with a new unit and reflash the truck.

Thank goodness I have an old Camry for my daily driver. Not only is it an extra vehicle, but I don't have to drive the truck like a soccer mom. The truck gets used for its working purpose and such issues have been minimal so far.

The Smarty has also helped a great deal with your particular case, mega. The "S" software of the Smarty sets all the EGR functions to 0% so that soot and carbon isn't getting backlogged into the turbo any longer. At least, not nearly as much.

yea I got that same shuttering effect from a weird turbo in addition to the 2262 code... I ran it over to the dealership and they tapped and flushed it... I am getting the code now plus some others so as soon as I get home the big girl is going back in... I am starting to wonder about the DPF delete... I am at 63k miles so... hmm

In some cases, or maybe most, cleaning is a Band-Aide! Unless the root cause is addressed it will always come back and have to be done. I believe Dodge has done good with addressing root cause through their programming updates and some better equipment...

Several pieces of the current equipment need to be replaced along with the latest programming. Issues should go away. The current stuff may be too far gone to be trouble free. Make them warantee the things properly or sue them... They know what needs to be done, and a lot are very good at playing ignorant. There are good techs here who have documented successes. I refrain from using the word stupid on the service centers because that would imply that they have no idea.

If this can't be made to happen then quit having the dealer waste their and your time/money and do some deletes to make what you have work and last.

If you don't have warantee then this is your only real choice without donating your equipment to the EPA.

First thing that needs to be done is to verify your ECM number and see if it's updated.

How do you do this? Is this something the dealer has to do?

Its been awhile since I have been able to get on here but the code went away after I drove the truck kinda hard and it has been running fine. Last week CEL came on then went off after a couple of days. Dealer said they could clean the turbo or replace it and reflash. If they reflash will i still be able to do a smarty and dpf delete? What is the newest flash anyway?
