No more 2007's?

I just read on another site that Dodge already stopped taking orders on the some of the 2007s (including the Mega Cabs). If that is correct, I will have to wait for a 2008. I was going to order this Friday. Can anyone confirm this?

I don't think what you read means that they have stoped taking orders for the 2007's trucks, the way my dealer told and showed me was they have so many that they will build per month, and what you read was for the month of Mar. maybe Apr.

The original poster on the other forum said it was a monthly restriction, but then changed it to a model year restriction. I cannot say for sure, that is why I am asking the question. I will check with the dealer I have been working with to confirm this. I would post a link, but I am not sure if this site would allow it.

dabrown,

FWIW:

I ordered a 2007 laramie quad cab, 6.7 auto, long bed drw 4x4 Friday afternoon (March 30th). Since it was late the salesman said he would place the order first thing Monday morning. After reading your post I went to the other site, found the thread you were referring to and according to that the configuration I ordered had turned "red" last week. I then called my salesman and we discussed what I had read. He said he would research it and call me back. When he called back he said my order was in and that if anyone else wanted to order call him.

My salesman didn't seem worried, but the people on the other site seem awfully sure of themselves.

What did your dealer have to say?

He hasn't called me back. I will be calling him in the morning. He didn't want to order until I was able to come in and sign some papers. I can't do that until this Friday. I appreciate the feedback.

JMHO, if a dealer will not order a vehicle without signing some papers. I would go to another dealer, the reason being, if for some reason that vehicle came in wrong (not what you ordered or wanted) you might be liable to take it anyway even it was not what you ordered.
So read the fine print before you sign anything, if you do go that way.

I've got a family connection that should get me a great price. Otherwise, I would go elsewhere.

What dealer in their right mind would special order a Truck without papers being signed and a deposit?

My father-in-law convinced me to wait for the 2008's. I never did confirm if you can still order a 2007.

I know one that will order you a truck without a deposit. They have no problems selling it if you don't want it - especially if it houses a Cummins.

HammerDown;
JMHO any dealer should be willing to order a truck, especially if it is not much different from what they would order for stock, or try to find the truck you want from another dealer and do a dealer trade with them for said truck, to earn your business.
All of this IMO should be done without having to signed papers or a deposit.

So you didn't get a signed receipt for your $1000 saying what the money was for...or the whole order transaction was verbal?
I sent them an email Monday no reply...I called there earlier today, put on hold then was disconnected.

Generally speaking I would not expect a dealer to special order a vehicle for me without a deposit from me. They don't know how serious I am and a deposit indicates much more than a passing interest on my part.

Also dealer trades are not all that easy or inexpensive. The dealer that wants a particular vehicle to sell to you the customer, must not only find the vehicle that you want but must find a dealer that will take something the dealer has. And the vehicle the other dealer wants is not going to be that lime green mini van that has been sitting on the lot for six months. The dealer trade also takes man hours, the dealer must pay someone to drive the vehicle he is giving up to the other dealership and to drive the other vehicle back. Then there is the issue of the miles put on the vehicles to do the trade. The alternative is trucking the traded vehicles back and forth, this is also expensive. Just my 2 cents.

Back to the original topic of this thread:

The 2007 I ordered now has a VIN so it is heading into production. A check of the "other site" indicates they are relieved that they can still order. Not quite sure what the dust up was all about maybe get some people off of the fence.
