Need your help guys

My dad has a 2008 auto 4x4 w/no mods. He has 65-70k on it, it's his daily driver. Usually puts somewhere around 100 miles on it oneway o the job site. He has had the turbo replaced by the dealer other than that no other problems with it. Today his check engine light came on. Everything seems to be normal, drives fine. What are the common reasons for this? Where can he get his truck read to find out the codes that it is throwing? Autozone? Thanks for the help everyone....his inspection is due to top it off.

I have read were other users on this forum that have posted that they went to Auto Zone to have the codes read. You can also purchase a low cost code reader to read and clear them if you need to.

The links go to Photobucket. You have to have an account to view things there. It is a free site and does not send out spam.

??? Which links are you talking about??? The links I posted go to DTR Wiki. Heres the directions on how to check the codes:

Turn the key on and off 3 times, do not engage starter. On the third cycle, leave the key on. In my vid, it reads 'DONE' because I have no codes, but if you have them, they will display.

Your first links lead to a page (DTR Wiki) with secondary links to video on Photobucket.

Should the turn key code test work on the 6.7 trucks? Cause my dad tried it and said that it didn't do anything just showed the mileage the whole time.

Thanks again for the help guys.

Yes the turn key does work on my 08. Used to use it before I got the EJA.

Yes it does work for 6.7s. Make sure you start in off position, turn on, off, on, off, on and it should show codes.

If you did the key sequence right the codes will come up. If no codes are present it will show "done".
