My 05 SRW was built south of the border and so far, I havent had any trouble with it.
Iv got 41K on the clock and it turns 18-20mpg.
The only thing is, and I think this is true whether its built there or here, it has a mixture of SAE and Metric fasteners which makes it confusing when trying to replace stuff.

I believe that all MegaCabs are built in Mexico. Standard cabs and Quadcabs are built in the US, has nothing to do with whether it is SRW or DRW.

If you read through all the responses the signature info seems to confirm this.

I have seen nothing to indicate that US built or Mexico built trucks have any advantage over the other as far as reliability issues.

I have a US built Quadcab and consistently get 17-18 MPG doing 100% hwy on cruise at 75 MPH and 14-15 MPG when driving urban. The MPG indicated on my overhead console is very close to the hand calculated MPG as long as I reset it every time I fill up. If I don't reset it, then it can be off by 3-4 MPG.

I have only had 1 CEL for the P0245 issue, which was fixed by the AU flash.

The 08 3500 Quad Cabs I've looked at so far, have all been built in Mexico.

Is it only the newer 6.7 liter trucks that are US built? I had thought all Dodge 5.9 liter trucks were Mexican built?

My 2004.5 has been great.. Never had it to a dealer, never will either.
Diff seals change by massdiesel around 75k
Water pump replaced last Sunday 85k (by myself)
Anything else replaced on truck as been my choice not because of failure.

I have the bucket seats in my 07.5 MegaCab, but they were available in the 2006 Quad Cabs also.

Yea, I know they are available, I just never seem to see one. The truck I found has everything I want in it, except the bucket seats and clearance lights(which are easy to install). The coolest thing about the truck in my opinion is the automatic rear sliding window. Not sure why, maybe its because I'm amused by the little things. I guess I can overlook the bucket seats since I will finally be getting out of my small truck and into a full-sized.

Hey that's funny. I have a 12/2005 Mexico built 2500 and the HVAC door was just replaced as well. The air stopped coming out of the passenger/drivertop vents.

I had a 5/8" heater hose near the turbo start to leak. Easy fix.

41k and runs well. No other problems.

I have a Mexican built quadcab and have had no problems the truck has been awesome. As I recall there were some guys having issues with poor paint and it was found that the guys having these problems were US built trucks which lead some to say maybe since they don't have an EPA in Mexico to deal with they are using better paint products. Products like used to be on the markets here in the states 15 or 20 years ago before all the enviromental regulatory crap left us with water based auto paints etc. Now this was all just speculation I don't know if any of it is true or not but that was the thread I recalled reading from almost a year ago about the Mexican built trucks being "better".

I ordered my MegaCab w/bucket seats, but my dealer (Cornett Chrysler in Irvine, KY) actually has kept a few bucket seat equipped Quad Cabs on his lot over the past few months.

I guess what it all boils down to is a sales manager not wanting to spring the $490 for the bucket seating option. They do sit/feel/support better than the 40/20/40 seating in my 2003 RAM 2500 Quad Cab; you also can't fault the bun warmers in the winter, too.

Hey, quite flaunting those warm leather buckets at me. I like your truck a wish I had gotten your package. I loved everything else so much, I couldn't wait...

Also, mine was built down south and have had no real issues other than the Ram Heavy Duty plaque missing chrome on the "y" and looking a bit funny. That was probably molded in China...

Since you're in SoCal, you'd probably use them infrequently anyway.
