I am also considering a left over 06 but have looked at an 07 3500 6 speed as well. My question is the emissions package on the 07, do I need to find an early 07 or is it that big of a deal? If I need to find an early one how do I determine build date and what is the good date for the cut-off?

The new emissions package for the 07.5s (unless you get a cab and chassis) is only a problem if you plan on bombing soon. They haven't been out long enough for products to be made for them. The new ones also haven't been out long enough to say how well it handles durability and if any sensor problems have crept up yet. I would say if you have the money and don't want to bomb for awhile, get one.
