Issues with shifter hitting cup holder trim nv5600 swap

I had an nv5600 swap done and the installer shorted me the upper boot that covers the hole. Anyways, I went out and bought an oem one for $100 off ebay because I got tired of waiting for it to come in. Not sure what the deal was there. Anyways, the issue is once you install that boot it no longer has enough clearance and its kind of resting against the the frame of that boot particularly where it snaps in. Ive heard of this being an issue on the 3rd gen swaps, but im not sure what the solution is. I guess maybe trim down the bottom of that vertical cup holder and then slide the bottom part of the console forward half an inch or so. Not really thrilled about drilling more holes as it's already got dedicated holes pre molded in.

I think its only 3rd and 5th that have clearance issues. There are no clearance issues with the leather boot removed

Im thinking maybe just grind off that plastic tab pictured then hopefully i can slide the rest of the cup holder console assembly forward half an inch or so.
