Hey everyone...new here.
My husband bought me an 07 2500 6.7 litre for my birthday in Feb. Since then we have had nothing but troubles with it.
First the anti theft system fried and locked the truck down, so it was in the shop for a week before they could get the parts.
Then it was having transmission problems, when I would be driving and slow down to 50 (km/hr) it would jerk back and forth really bad. Also when excellerating it would lurch forward in changing from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd. So they (said they) fixed it
Now my latest problem is my engine light keeps coming on, then going off, then coming on again, I took it in last week and they said it was because the filter for my exhaust break was clogged. Seemed kind of funny to me as I had just driven it 3500kms in 4 days...but whatever, they said they fixed it and off I went.
So yesterday the engine light comes back on, and I take it back there...they said they have no idea what is causing it to keep coming on (this dealership sucks!! but its the only one in town!) Also, they order a new CD player and a new drivers door speaker for it, cause those are both shot.
I was driving up to my friends house yesterday and I was going up a hill and BING! the engine light comes back on
I am pretty p'od by this time...then it hits me! I am going up a (pretty) steep hill, probably going about 100km/hr and.....I cant hear my turbo! Is that normal?! I can always hear it when I am going up hills, or I am going fast. Has anyone else ever had any turbo issues with this truck??
I am so sad and frustrated with my truck
I take very good care of it, keep the oil changed and all services up to date, I dont 4X4 it. It had 17,000 kms on it when I got it in Feb and now there is 45,000kms on it....So I have driven it a lot, but never hard or out of control. Has anyone else ever had and kind of issues with their truck? My husband is getting so mad that he wants to trade my truck in when he gets home (hes in a work camp) He says he is not paying them a truck payment so I can be either stranded at home, or driving the Dodge Avenger (yuck!!) car they give me when my truck is busted.

Welcome, BC girl... sorry you're having troubles.
The earlier 6.7's had some problems with the DPF clogging, there is something out for drilling the turbo and cleaning it, then flashing the ECM with updated software... one of my friends is having the same problems with his 07.5.
Things that have helped him a little while he waits for the dealership to fix his truck is to leave the exhaust brake on all the time, and dive it like heck at least once a day.
Good luck with this. I'm sure that more knowing will chime in soon...

Kinda makes you think why the original person traded it in. That sucks as i have been in the same boat as you but with a FORD. I wound up tradin it in for my 5.9. Never looked back and am still lovin it. Sorry bout your troubles.
Sorry to hear about your problems. There is a reflash for the auto transmission
that fixed the problem like the one your talking about (I don't remember what the TSB # was though
) Do you use the EB (exhaust break) at all? How much? If you don't use the EB a lot, it will clog up so turn it on right away when you get it your truck. Something I have been finding out to is that it seems that it's best to keep the RPMs at 1600-1700 even in town so try and use the botton on the shifter to keep it in a lower gear. One other thing you could do is then take it out on the highway and run the truck a little hard (faster starting and change of your speed). Hope this helps (and yes I know it is a lot
).
Keep us posted if you can.

The 6.7 diesels do have some problems, but people these trucks are for heavy towing. The short hops to the grocery store or Cosco just never get the engine hot enought to burn off all the soot from turbo, particulate filter, and egr valve etc. The computers on these trucks record your driving habits. How far you have driven, total fuel used, total idle time, total idle fuel used. When a tech scans your trucks computer he knows how you drive it. 50% time spent idling explains why your check engine lite is on and your particulate filter needs regeneration. Chrysler pays me well to do all this cleaning of parts and also driving your truck to clean your filter. Sometimes driving for 45 minutes or more. Updating your PCM, drilling a hole in turbo so cleaning turbo can be done (cheaper then replacing with new turbo). SO people get out and drive these trucks hard. Leave the exhaust brake on and if you do need to idle engine for long periods of time use the idle up feature. This feature may need to be enabled by dealer. May save you a trip to dealer for a cleaning.
Thanks everyone for the suggestions.
I do use the exhaust brake a lot...usually it is on. I turn it on right when I get in the truck so I don't forget (did I mention how much I loooove that brake?)
We had the 1500 Hemi before this truck, but found it was too hard on fuel for the amount of driving that I do. Between June 21st to July 31st I drove over 8,000 Kms! The trip I just came back from was 3500 kms and I did it in 4 days....I would think that would be enough to burn off the junk in the filter?
I was noticing something else. When the engine light is on, I can't hear the turbo, but when its off I can....does that make sense?
Ug, I don't know...what I do know is my husband is going to freak out when he gets home.

Have you noticed an extreme lack of power when you can't hear the turbo? It sounds like the turbo is getting very sooted up. Try this. Next time you drive somewhere do it in manual # 4 with the E-Brake on and in Tow/Haul. Try to drive aggressively too. Get on the highway if you can and get those RPMs up and keep it there. You should be up around 3000 rpms on the highway. Now, as you are doing this keep lifting your foot off the accelerator to engage the E-Brake. Give it some fuel, lift off, give it some fuel, lift again, etc... Do this for several miles if possible...
I got the dreaded P2262 (turbo needs cleaning) code and also a P0137 (O2 sensor is dirty)codes and I didn't want to deal with going to the dealership. I did exactly what I just described to you and my CEL went away and has not come back in a couple weeks. Now I just do this once a week at least. It's ridiculous that we have to do this but if it works then I will just deal with it like this because this is a great truck otherwise......

I really think that's why it was traded in. My mother lemoned a Mustang in a couple years back for computer problems they couldn't seem to repair, and this went on for months. In one week it was back on the lot for sale, theirs a slim chance they got it repaired right, since they couldn't get it right for us in 5 months of trying. Probably not what you wanted to hear though.
Thanks for the reply.
Yeah, not really what I wanted to hear...I love my truck, but we can get the same one, only an 08, for probably the same payment (1000/month) that we pay for our lemon of an '07 (heh, that ryhmes) I want to get the same truck because I just bought nerf bars, fender flares and a canopy for my truck so I dont want that to all go to waste, plus I love love love Dodge's interior...it is far superior to any other truck I test drove.
Thanks again for all your help guys. My husband is getting home in three weeks and hopefully by then I will have found a better truck
I'll let you all know. Thanks again.
