How Do You Read Codes On 6.7 Engine?
I've had the "Engine Malfunction" lamp come on a few times over the past 3000 miles but then it goes off on its own. The vehicle drives beautifully but I'm perplexed about this lamp coming on. I read on this forum that you can read any stored codes by cycling the ignition on 3 times within 5 seconds and reading the results on the odometer but this doesn't seem to work for me. Am I performing this procedure properly or is code reading different for the 6.7 as opposed to the 5.9? Thanks...
Quickly cycle the key from off to on and leave it on on the third sweep, where the ODO is, this will be displayed "------" than any codes present than "done". have a pen and paper ready.
will show up, I have tried doing this with the drivers door open and I could not get it to work.
I"m not sure if this will also clear the codes, I heard it will in some cases but I didn't have any luck in clearing them, had to take it to the dealer. I had codes with no CEL as well.

I'm having the same problem, can't get it to display the codes. The first time it happened I checked everything under the hood and found the coolant was low. Filled it up, and it went away. This time everything is topped off and I can't figure out why this light is on. I guess its a trip to the dealership so they can laugh at me because my tire pressure is low or something.
