"Growl" sound & 0087 code Question

Hey guys. I need a little bit of help on this. Just got my truck out of the shop for some work on the AC, power steering, and new belts and hoses. When I got the truck out on the highway I noticed a new sound. It’s like a “growl” and is very noticeable to me when I go fast. I took it back to the shop and told them it sounded like a vacuum leak or something there about. The looked everything over and couldn’t find anything wrong. A couple of days later, I went to get on the highway and had to speed up fast but it was like the engine was starved for fuel, no real power past maybe 2500 rpm. I got going faster but nothing like normal. When I did this a second time the CEL came on. The truck runs fine at start up and through the gears if I go easy/normal on the gas. The first time this happened the CEL light went off at some point – not sure when. Then today to test it I was able to reproduce it. Back to the shop and they guys said it was giving them code 0087 and stated it was to do with the fuel rail but they didn’t have the equipment to troubleshoot and recommended I take it to Texas Diesel Injection for a fix. I’d like to fix myself if one of you guys could give me something to go after. I’ve been researching here and found a couple of threads on 0087 code. The one by Davea86 on 1/16/2008 looks very similar to what my truck is doing. Any other thoughts or directions or am I at least heading the right direction?

Truck is a 2007.5 Dodge Ram 2500 Megacab with the 6.7L Cummins and has a H&S Xtreem Race Tuner (pre-Pro model).

Thanks in advance
