You've never had hands on experience with AISIN than. They are very well known for making a hard working durable product that will likely out last you, or the truck. I wouldn't be surprised if it laid a smack down to the Allison.

You asked where Cummins is getting "the extra .8 liters from" on the new 6.7?
According to their press reports on the new 6.7, the cylinders have been bored out some going from 4.02 on the 5.9 to 4.21 on the 6.7. Cummins also increased the stroke, going from 4.72 on the 5.9 engine to 4.88 on the new 6.7 engine. This all results in a displacement increase from 359 cid. on the 5.9to 408 cid. on the new 6.7.

I just found this:
Based on the proven DNA of the 5.9-liter Cummins turbo-diesel engine, the new 6.7-liter engine is 50-percent quieter, while featuring a 107mm bore by 124mm stroke (versus 102mm bore by 120mm stroke for the 5.9-liter engine). The new engine retains more than 40 percent of its components from the 5.9- liter engine and shares more than 80 percent of its components with the new Dodge Ram chassis cab.
Enhancing diesel-powered performance of 2007 Dodge Ram Heavy Duty trucks is an electronically-controlled Variable Geometry Turbocharger (VGT), which precisely matches boost pressure with the engine's needs. The 6.7-liter engine's VGT utilizes 16 fixed vanes and a sliding yoke, providing variable geometry, as well as an electric valve. The VGT produces optimum combustion control, reduced emissions and a quiet and lag-free throttle response.

I'm going to pick up a DRW cab and chassis 6 speed sometime this week. The dealer is switching flatbeds with another one they had that had a better bed, but no cruise or exhaust brake. I drove the one without the exhaust brake last week. Didn't seem all that impressive. Accelerated about the same as the stock 02 HO i've got now. It was much quieter, even quieter than my old man's 2004.5. It did have more turbo whine than I expected though. The interior is huge compared to my 02. I just drove it 5 miles or so, so i'll post back after I pick it up.
