Is it a good idea to buy a truck with 274k miles?

I've been looking to get a newer truck for a while, and a 2009 cclb 2500 4x4 just showed up at a used car lot. Truck looks VERY good, no body damage or rust anywhere, no visible leaks when I slid under the truck.

Is it a good idea to invest in a truck with this many miles? Looks like it was a camper puller with a turn down on the tailpipe, DPF intact, truck is completely stock. When do the 6.7's start having issues?

Thanks in advance for any input, Tim.

Without a history of what's been rebuilt or replaced already I wouldn't shy away from it but I would figure out the market price and then take off about $5k for impending large repairs if you do your own work, or double that amount if you don't do your own work.
3rd Gen quad cab 4x4 with 275k mi would be worth $15 k tops to me only if it had a recent trans rebuild and newer injectors and possibly IP...... And a pretty healthy list of newer components that were not already nearing the end of their expected service life again.
Considering you could get that truck with 100k less miles for $20k or less.

Buying a truck with 274k miles can be a good idea, but there are some things to consider.

First, check the maintenance records. A truck that has been well-maintained will last longer. The fact that the truck looks good and doesn't have rust or leaks is a positive sign.

For the 6.7L engine, they can run a long time if they are properly cared for. Common issues with high-mileage 6.7L engines include turbo failure, injector problems, and issues with the EGR system. You should also keep an eye on the transmission and suspension components, as they can wear out with high miles.

If you're planning to keep the truck for a long time, make sure to budget for potential repairs as it gets older. It could still have a lot of life left, but it depends on how the previous owner treated it.

Make sure to have the truck inspected by a mechanic before buying. This will help you avoid any surprises.
