Finally put the Rokktech on the 6.7....

I hung onto my Rokktech crank sensor when I sold all my other 5.9 stuff. I was told that the crank sensor for the 6.7s had the same part number as the ones for the 5.9s. I asked if anybody had tried it on their 6.7 and got no response other than several people wanting me to let them know how it worked if I ever did it. Well, just as it was when we started doing all the crazy stuff to the brand new 03 3rd gens, I have decided to be the guinea pig and I put it on today. The truck starts and runs just fine and I noticed no real power gains of any kind (exactly like it was on my 07 5.9). I will give it a few days and see if the mileage looks like it might be up. My over head has been hovering between 13.3 and 13.5 mpg for the last few days and if anything it would have gone down a bit as the next week goes on. That's just typical of how the truck has been since I've owned it. This Rokktech gave me no increase in power in my 5.9 but when I pulled it off my mileage dropped one full point. I am hoping to see at least a 1 mpg gain but I will accept more if it's possible.
Anyways, I'll post back in a few days......

From what i can tell, this thing is just an adjustable timing sensor, right? For $60, if it gives a full MPG increase it will pay for itself in notime. I will DEFINATELY be interested in hearing your results.

EDIT: did you retard or advance the timing with the module? by how far?

Yes that's all it does and it worked on my 07. I did the Tone Ring Mod on my 03 and got even better results.
My big question is why hasn't anybody else tried it...... At least nobody has posted anywhere that they have tried it with good or bad results..

from what i understand, it is user adjustable. for this experiment, how many degrees do you have it set to either retard or advance? which way are you going, advance or retard? will you be doing multiple tests with different settings to see if any one setting is better than another for fuel economy on the 6.7?

I adjusted it as far forward as I could. That is not a whole lot as there is really minimal adjustment you can do. Since I have not heard any kind of timing rattle at all from this engine I doubt I would consider turning it backwards as that would possibly give less power and worse mileage...

The Rokktech only gives about 2 degrees of timing, and I assume it's still holds true for the 6.7L.
Any gains in timing should help with these retarded timing diesels.

I haven't even driven the truck except to go up the street to make sure I would not have any issues. I also have no guages so I can't tell you about the EGTs either....

I am stupid!

I had put the sensor on with the O-ring that I pulled off of the factory piece. I swear I just couldn't remember if I was supposed to do that or not and with the o-ring on it sure didn't seem like there was any room for adjustment. Driving it like that actually brought my mileage down and the truck would not powerbrake and break the tires loose. I pulled it back off and pulled the o-ring off and WOW there is some adjustment there!!
Did I mention that I'm stupid? Anyways, I don't know if it would break the tires loose with the stock sensor but it definitely does it with ease now. I will have to check the mileage again over the next couple of days....

Just call me Dumbzilla.......

Just drove about 15 miles in town and it looks good so far for the mileage. I have a pic of my power test awaiting approval. Remember that I have 285s on the truck too so it should be harder to do this...

"Doh!" Is an understatement........

Oh, here is a picture of the "PowerTest". Should a stock truck be able to do this? It had more too but I let off because I didn't want to waste my expensive tires......
