engine light
I have a 07 6.7 mega cab for a welding truck and I have around 45,000 k on it
My engine light keeps coming on and was wondering if anyone else has had this problem? I take it to my Dodge dealer(6th time), they clean some tubes(?) and send me on my way, I get about 10K down the road and it comes on again. I have been told by some other 6.7 truck guys, that its the turbo, short in the wire, computer etc etc!!!! alls I know is that I have lost over $6000 in day rates! Now they tell me they dont know how to fix the problem

OK, to be a little less criptic than Zilla there, you need to get rid of the emissions garbage that is on your truck. Read everything you can on DPF delete and EGR delete. There are a few companys thet sel lthis equipment for a large range of prices.
When you do this you will throw a soft code on the engine but it doesn't hurt anything. It will give you a ton more MPG (mine went from 12.5 to 16), less temps and more power. To not have the code alot of guys are using either the Bully Dog PMT or Edge Juice w/Attitude. I have the Edge and LOVE it!!
Total cost for all my deletes and chips was just over 1500.00 and my truck runs like a raped ape and I figure that it will pay for itself in just under 20,000 miles just in the fuel savings

Welder, Is you truck acting different when the light comes on or does it seem like it just comes on for no reason. Just to save you a little bit of reading, The emmisions system mandated on all 07 diesel engines built on or after 07 , regardless of the brand, is where your problem lies. Most of the time you'll get a light and a code for no real reason. Has you truck had any reflashes done? Look on your radiator support for a tag that will say you engines computor has been updated or changed. Soot is what they are cleaning out of your turbo. What dodgezilla is tring to say is, Their are delete kits that will remove that wonderful choking emmision system and fool the computer by telling it everything is ok and keep your truck running well for years to come. Turn your key on/off 3 times without starting the truck and your codes will come up. post the numbers. It will be pxxxx .

Ok quick question, just caught my first CEL today p2262.... what exactly is the cause of it. I think im gonna bite the bullet and do BADP and Edge, I know the edge clears the codes on startup, but does the check engine light remain on. just curious
No MIL with the Edge unless you don't wait for it to boot up all the way. Sometimes I get in a hurry and just start the truck and the MIL will come on and then the cat full service required come on the overhead but it does not affect the engine.
If you are getting the Edge then you might want to look at the H&S kits. BADP is having alot of issues with there boxes right now. I have never had one lick of problems with my delete

I spent less than $600 on my delete kits. If you don't want to up the power then you don't have to add a PMT or Edge Juice/Attitude. I got a simple code reader for clearing my codes when I feel the need. You do get used to having the constant CEL. I don't even notice mine anymore but everybody else does....

when they cleaned the sensors I got them to change the oil as well so the oil should be good. I did the key on/off 3 times and waited for the little dots to show on my dash lights, It didnt show any codes, all it showed was "Done" what the hell do I do????
Your owner's manual has the procedure to turn the Oil Change Required message off. Maybe the tech forgot to do it. If you have the latest flash in your ECM you can always try unplugging the EGR. Your issues are caused by excessive soot which is pumped into the engine via the EGR. If you keep the EGR then your issues likely will continue indefinitely....

I know that if you plug it in the CEL will go away after a few restarts. You can clear the code but I don't know if it disappears totally. I did read where a member of another site did this and his dealer hooked his truck up to the StarScan tool and they knew immediately that it had been unplugged previously. He said they told him specifically that they could tell that it had been unplugged.
I guess anytime we mess with these trucks there is the possibility of warranty issues. I unplugged mine when fuel was $5.00 a gallon and I just had no other choice at that time.
