Dealership Diagnose Problems

I have an '07 Cab and Chassis, I have 9300 miles on it, and I haven't had any real problems with it until Monday morning, it started knocking really bad and put out a white smoke screen that blocked sight across five lanes , and then it died, wouldn't even try to start, anyhow it got towed to the local dealership who now claim that they can't diagnose it because they need some sort of special tool to figure out what's wrong. I suspect a bad injector, due to the white smoke and excess fuel that was dripping from the tailpipe, anyhow, it's been in the shop for nearly a week, and still nobody has diagnosed it, has anyone else heard of such a thing? And why would Chyrsler put out an engine without dealer support?

wouldnt bad injector and excess fuel create black smoke and NOT white smoke? Would it not even crank over or would it crank and just not start? White smoke, to me says water

i know the black is from a partial burn and also called soot.

When i read what he said happened, for some reason i didnt realize he was moving down the road, i was thinking he was stopped or just taking off. So i was thinking that at that low of an rpm, had it been fuel there would have been no way it would have all ignited and thats why i was thinking it would have been black smoke had it been fuel.

anyways, ya learn something new everyday

No, It was getting close to a quarter tank, so I had run 40+ gallons through it since the last fill up.

Checked the oil the day before, I check it close to every other day. I have an excavation company, so checking oil on all the equipment has become an everyday task that I tend to carry over to my vehicles.

The truck is bone stock, and I pull a 14K trailer with it everyday.

white smoke=unburned fuel or coolant..
is it locked up like it is hydro-locked??? or does it just crank(engine spins) but never starts??
I think injector cause of this...white smoke and the knock...injector knocking??

6.7 uses extra pulse from the regular injector . It just does it on the exhaust stroke to get the fuel to the dpf. I'm betting on an injector issue too!

No hydrolock occured, the engine was turning over, it just wouldn't fire.

This exact thing happend to EB earlier this year. If I remember the truck was saying the dpf was ok but in turn it was full. He stated tons of white ( un burned fuel ) smoke. Then died. Needed a new dpf then a reflash specific to the cab and chassis only ( different programing in ecm from the pick ups ) Do a search of EB' posts and Im sure you'll find it. Maybe he'll chime in as well. You can also find the tsb relating to this issue and give it to your dealer to kind of "help them out". Basically your truck went in to regen but the extra fuel just bypassed through the dpf and out the pipe. Which is why you had white smoke and fuel everywhere. I can never remember the link to the list of tsb's, I believe on the top of the page you can find it under links.

white smoke sure sounds like coolant. could be egr valve and/or cooler. was it fuel dripping out of the tailpipe or coolant?
