Check Engine Light
Check Engine Light
I looked at some other post and found the method to check the codes. I have a 2008 2500. About a week ago while out of town I got a check engine light. The truck runs great. I tried the procedure for checking the codes. However in that other post the person stated that the code would show up where the milage was supposed to be. On my truck the milage never went away and the check engine light blinked off and on. I counted the flashes and I got a code 110. The light blinked once paused then blinked 10 times. I checked the other post that gave the codes and I did not find this code or anything close. Does anyone have any suggestions?
I went to Oreilly auto parts. The parts guy check the codes with his hand held and got code p 0471 exhaust pressure sensor. He cleared the code and I drove about 25 miles with no check engine light. I am thinking when I put it under a heavy load I will get the code again. Has anyone had this issue? I don't think it is a sensor but I could be wrong. Where would this sensor be located? Thanks: Mark

On the passenger side of the engine, there is a stainless steel pipe about 3/8" diameter that runs from the exhaust manifold to the area where the thermostat and a brass sensor are located. The sensor is for exhaust pressure, and the pipe allows the exhaust to cool before being measured. There have been cases where this pipe has plugged up with soot.

I agree with Gator, also check the housing for restriction. If plugged a small drill bit will clean the carbon out. You just want to clean the carbon out do not make orifice larger. Check with compressed air, after removing the pressure sensor.
