Check engine light

My check engine light came on today and I checked everything like fluids and stuff. The truck still runs the same. I only have about 2800 miles on the truck. Any ideas or should I just take it to the local dealer to fix.

Try the key trick. On off on off on... really fast, within 2 seconds or so, and the code should show in your odometer. If it's the dreaded p2262, you'll most likely be in line for a new turbo in the next little while as I am. Whatever code you see, there is a list in the forums that will tell you what they mean. I hope this helps.

Code P2262 turbo clean needed, also other emission components will need cleaning.

I'm starting to get CELs regularly but mine usually doesn't even give me a code. It happened again on the way home yesterday. When this happens to me I drive with the truck in manual 5th or 4th gear to get the RPMs up which will also generate more heat to burn off the soot that is getting on the O2 sensors and inside the turbo. My CELs always go away within one day. It is starting to get irritating but as long as the truck keeps running fine I'm not too worried about it. I am seriously thinking about doing some deletes and eliminating the issue though.

If the light came on soon after fueling, check that the cap is tight. I got a CEL because of a loose fuel cap once.

I get a CEL every few weeks, always the same thing....an O2 sensor acting up. I merely delete the code with my code reader and continue on. As long as the problem doesn't get any worse I'll try to live with it for a while. The dealer wants the truck for 2 days to work on it. I'm trying to avoid that but may have to concede if the CEL comes on more often. Still love the truck, though....

Mine came on this morning on a trip home (08 with 7298 miles). So I just went out to pull the code and it started to come up and went to straight lines? Now the truck runs fine and the code went away? Anyone ever have that, weird.
