Buying 08. Previous Turbo problems.

I am looking at an 08 6.7 2500 CTD. Automatic transmission, and 98,000 miles. He claims to have done regular maintenance and he had bought it from an old farmer that rarely drove it. It is still under warranty, and he said it has had only one problem. At 90k miles he had to get the turbo cleaned. Should I be leery of the truck? Why would it need cleaning? If I'm going to have to buy a turbo, I want to get it knocked off the price. Any help is much appreciated.

The turbo cleaning is a somewhat regular occurance depending on the way it was driven, if it was an old farmer then it would most likely have needed it, the best way to avoid it is to always drive with the exhaust brake on, it keeps the moving parts from getting sooted up and sticking which has to be cleaned.
with 98,000 miles you should have 2000 miles of engine warranty left.....

If you do the "Blake delete" you won't have the dirty turbo problem. I did deletes on mine @ 24,000 and love it! Not a tad bit worried about my warranty being null & void

After deleting everything and putting the intake horn on, did your truck throw a code after putting the smarty on? Kerry king

I'm at 43,000 miles now and not a single problem or code yet.
Nothing but happy with it.
