Buy Back Complete
Buy Back Complete
Well the buyback process is finally over. 6 weeks from start to finish. I will have to say so long to the diesel community. I swapped for a 2008 White Jeep Unlimited Rubicon, Nav., dual tops, tow package, power windows, remote start. The overall process went fairly well except for the wait. Driving that thing for 6 weeks trying to avoid every nut case on the road got really old. In the middle of the 6 weeks the engine light came on for probably the 15th time (no joke). I just had no faith in th 6.7 to trade for another one, and I already had another truck that I bought to back up this one. So I got the Jeep I always wanted before I got to old and too much practicality set in! Saving .80/ga. in gas is pretty nice and the lifetime drivetrain warranty as well. DW is pretty cool with it too. I must admit, when the truck was right it was awesome to drive, but now I must change a few things so that my 87 318 can do the job. Everyone said drive it hard, so I drove hard enough to get 11 mpg, and that was empty half the time!
2 new turbos, 2 02 sensors, 2 egr valves, 2 nox absorbers, turbo drill and tap, numerous parts cleaned and re-installed, 11 visits to the shop, kept it 8 times, 7 rental cars later, 29000 mi. and light still comes on.
The dealership is a 5 star dealer and I believe they did a pretty good job of trying to get this resolved, but they are also sick of this vehicle. The truck was a true lemon, they knew it, that is why they approached me before I sued. I believe the truck went to auction next day.
I know I will miss the low end torque, but I look forward to the jeep thing. There is nothing like a Rocky Mountain trail in a 4x4.Thanks!!!!! Great web site.
