AQ flash
What's to receive? The flash is downloaded through the Internet with the starscan tool. If there is a new flash, the starscan tool would retrieve the newest version.
There is a sticker on the engine compartment that states the flash that came on the truck from the factory. if the dealer updated the flash before you got the truck they likely didn't replace the sticker so you would have to have them plug in the StarScan tool and let you know what flash you have.
Azzy-what was your mileage before the flash? Are you seeing an improvement? There is a tech on the cumminsforum that stated the latest flash (assuming AQ for the '08s) is supposed to reduce the amount of exhaust gas that is being recirculated by the EGR soas to prevent the constant clogging of the EGR and the dirtying of the O2 sensors. I don't think that would have any bearing on fuel economy but a cleaner engine certainly can't hurt. The tech also said that they have not received the latest flash yet so maybe your dealership is just ahead of the pack with their updates.

I'll be interested to see what it calculates next week.
I didn't get a chance to call the dearlership today to ask about the flash because I was helping a buddy with a barn we will be raisin' this weekend. Here is my 08' and his 5.9 06'.
Have a question,do you have to have a code before you get these flashes? The service writer at my local dealer said if I have had no problems I would have to pay to have truck hooked up to check if it is up to date on flashes. Does this make sense?
Find a different dealer. Some service departments aren't willing to do SQUAT for a customer unless it is putting money in their pockets, others prefer to keep a good customer relationship. When I wanted the AO flash for my '08 I just went to my service department and asked them to update it. They pulled the StarScan out right then and updated it while we BS'd for a while. No paperwork, no charge.
Sabersix-beats me why some dealerships have it available to download and some don't. I asked my local dealer about it and they said it wasn't available to download yet and yet Azzy's dealership clearly does. Who knows how Chrysler works, I honestly don't even think they do themselves...

maybe I am missing something, but what is the latest flash for an 07 6.7? I asked my dealer today when I took it in for an service engine light. His response was, ya you got the latest flash according to our records.
Latest flash I'm aware of for the 07.5 is AX. Looks like there is a new one for the 08 trucks (v. AQ), but there seems to be only one person here that has it. Bando mentioned he heard that a new flash is coming this month, but I have seen no other mention on this board or others that a new flash is out.
BroncoHound - It may be the case that Dodge made the flash available on DealerConnect, but then pulled it back as was done with an earlier flash last December?!?

Thanks!
Thanks!
sabersix-that is certainly a possibility. maybe there was something wrong with the flash they didn't realize until after it was released and recalled it before most dealerships downloaded it. who knows, this is all really just speculation at this point.
13fox-no prob!

I called the dealership this morning and it was IN FACT an AQ flash. I'm going Monday to pick up what little info they can give me. AGAIN, all he said was that it was a software update

Azzy, there must be some confusion with the use of the word "flash". Your pictures show the TSB for the WCM which is the ring around your ignition switch that works with the security chip in your key to allow the vehicle to start.
A flash is a technique used to update the software code in the various computers that control functions on the truck. Your TSB has nothing to do with the ECM flash which is what we thought you were talking about when you said you received the latest flash. The current ECM software version is AX for 07.5 and AO/AP for 08 (manual/auto). The ECM is the computer that controls the engine.
Thanks for tracking down the info from the dealer about the AQ flash.

Well then, I am completely confused.
I asked for the latest flash for my truck when I went in for the oil change. Which they did.
I was told (today) that this "flash" got me up to date with everything. I asked if I could get the flash that helped with the harsh downshifting while I was there and he said it was all part of the new flash (AQ) that they just did. Except that it still down shifts very harshly with the EB on. So if this AQ thing didn't fix that problem, what do I say to them?
This is the number they gave me that pertained to my truck.
62350235AQ
I am very very confused.
PS: He even hooked up the Starscan tool right in the parking lot while I stood there.

OK, I'm not sure why they gave you the WCM TSB.
I just check techauthority and it does in fact show an AQ version for the 2008 2500 Auto (62350235AQ previously was AP)) which is applied against TSB 18-013-08. Have them print out that TSB to explain what the flash addresses.
2008 2500 Man: 62350230AP (was AO)
2008 3500 Auto: 62351235AQ (was AP)

2007 trucks still all show AX version.
Date of list is 6/12/08.
