Anybody Have Gorilla 56, or know about G85

Hey guys just wondering if anybody on here running built Gorilla G56-how well are they holding up with all the upgrades done to them. Definately will need a 6 speed manual transmission that can handle crazy amount of torque on tap, I wont have a wide power band, peak torque come in around 1600rpms and still want to be 4wd capable

I also Noticed that Mercedes Benz makes a G85-6 speed found in bigger medium duty with higher torque rating better suited for a 5.9/6.7 cummins. Does anybody know anything about this transmission? Is it similar to the G56-thinkin maybe bell housing and tail housing could be swapped between them?

Or do you have any other 6 speed manual transmission that could handle 1500-2000 ft lbs of torque and still be speed shifted with same gear pattern as a G56...

Thanks for your input/opinions

from what I hear if the G56 dont hold up , most go straight to a NV 56 known to be more solid from the get go...

I spoke with Mike Lazar who builds the Gorilla 56,he says they can handle up to 1000hp 2000ft lbs of torque that's why i'm curious on how well they been holding up.

Wanna try and avoid building a NV 56 (since the parts are like gold for them) and do not like the gear pattern layout..

But I really like to find some good info on the G85-6.

I have 2 gorilla-56's one in my daily driver one is my drag truck. Mike is telling the truth ,but tuning will make the difference of wether it survives or not. with the torque shield to stiffen the case your already ahead of the NV the internals of a stock g56 are a bit larger than the NV56

Thanks for the Input, mike said he could build me a G85 as it same length as g56 but parts aren't interchangeable and still be able to bust a built one for the engine i'm building and very narrow powerband and roughly 800 ft lbs of torque at idle before bumping timing and doing set o twins... I will be going with Eaton Fuller FSO8406A-Figuring out the 4wd Situation be task-but it tranny used in medium duty's and bigger cummins with 1 3/4" input shaft, dime a dozen to come by, and depending on bellhousing can get up to 14"of clutch...

Can't help with the trans question, but what about a divorced t-case or would it be a major weak link? This way you would have more options on what trans you could use as long as you don't mind a little fabrication/ spending a little more for shafts and what not...

I have came across greatest thread ever on married T-Case adapter for Eaton Fuller 6 speed to solved problem for all the guys that been busting through the 5 and 6 speed trannies and tired of rebuilding or spending fortune on nv5600 parts and need reliable tranny for their job/work , however "Chansey" engineered the piece is a genius and looks amazing, but he's having problems with finding manufacturer to Commit to making at least 100 adapters. He's Built 3 that in his trucks that hes been using and made it acceptable for several different t-cases and what not

http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/98...fuller-95.html

That is best thread ever-tons and tons of information to learn and hours of reading

With Divorced tcase-harder to come by and then I imagine prolly more powertrain loss through driveline and would like to just avoid it overall.
