Any trouble with 08's?

Anyone having trouble with the 08's like I have read about on the 07's? I got 14.98 mpg's on the first tank (hand calc. mixed ranch/hwy half and half). Second tank is going to be slightly better. Either way that is better mpg's than I got with the 01 same driving and this is so much more pleasant to drive.

08's are perfect

At least that's what one could gather from seeing 129 views and not a single reply. Glad I waited on a 08. 1300 miles in one week on this 08 and I have never been more pleased with any vehicle over the last 18 years of driving

I had a g30 rtecall done, and those stupid tire pressure sensors are driving me batty. I put my 285's on and had to get the valve stems put in those tires and still had a problem, the dealer said put the original tires in the back of the bed and sure enough the thing dash light went off. Pulled the tires out of the back and no problems in 2500 miles.

Tire pressure sensors? I was unaware this is an 08' standard equipment or option item. Can they be order deleted/disconnected/removed?

Between the back up honking, numerous sensor and warning lights flashing, buzzers et. al. kinda makes driving the truck a distraction.

I've had mine exactly a month and have put on 6,023 miles on it so far. They have replaced the drag link and done a recall on the O2 sensor, but other than that it is a great truck.

How do you turn off the seat belt chime???? That drives me nuts.
I have an 08 mega, and I love it,,, no issues. Even lifted it and put 38's on it.
Also had the edge chip put on with an aftermarket intake too.
No error codes or any of the problems you hear about on the 07's. Here are a few pics.

it states in the owners manual how to do it. It also turns off the annoying reverse warning honk. I cant remember exactly how to do it as its been a few months since i did mine, but you basically have to buckle/unbuckle the seatbelt like 8 or 12 times or something during a certain time frame under certain conditions etc etc.... check your owners manual.

I'm getting just a little better than that with 87k miles on my 07.5. That may sound great, but my 04.5 5.9L got consistently almost 5 m.p.g. better than the 07.5 has ever got. At approx. 150k miles per year, 12,000 gals. of fuel ($30,000.00) that's a pretty hefty negative on the bottom line for me. I was really hoping the 08' would be ALOT better. Is 17/18 m.p.g. empty asking too much?? And how about at least 12 m.p.g. towing - ya know, what the thing is built for??!! And I'm NOT talking about driving 55 m.p.h. to get that mileage. I know these trucks can do it.

There prob is not much difference, maybe alot of updates and little fixes from 07 to the 08. Gas milage, yea, I guess i cant say much about my gas milage, I did it to myself. I do remember before I put my tires on it really was not that great to begin with, but mine is not even broken in yet.

Well...In my 06, I picked up almost 2mpg after I hit 100K miles, and thats whether I'm towing or empty.

I noticed almost the same with my 04.5. Now I have to compare. With the 07.5 just over 100k miles is the service length for the DPF - at the owner's expense and for what?? Over $1,000.00 for sure. So I was looking for feedback too, from anyone "working" an 08. If the 08's were doing much better, I might consider spending the $1,000.00 it cost me to swap all my equipment out into a new truck instead of spending it on maintaining the EPA, money sucking, system that not is only sucking me dry on fuel economy but has a maintenence schedule that goes out past the warranty, making it the owner's sole responsibility.

So gut the DPF, or get rid of it entirely, thats what we've done on a couple trucks here in NY, makes them sound a lot better too. My buddy's mega sounds great with a full straight pipe. Hasn't thrown a code yet either, just make sure you keep the sensors plugged in.
