95k miles
95k miles
Well, just under 95k miles for 8 months of 2007 with the 07.5. Purchased it in April. So far the only problems have been with the EGR & the almost constantly illuminated CEL. Got the latest flash with the O2 recall but I still don't think the truck is right yet. Currently ignoring the little yellow sucker until the next oil change. Truck still blows out alot of soot and the fuel mileage still sucks. Other than that I am very happy with it.
Now that I'm slow for awhile, I will be gathering all my receipts for the year-end dance with Uncle Sam. Will be interesting to compare how much fuel I have burned with this 2010 EPA compliant beast versus the big BAD, air polluting & environmently destroying 04.5 that I had. Even without the raw data I'm estimating that over the same 100k mile distance the 07.5 will probably burn about 4k gals. more than the 04.5 did. At an average of $3.10/gal. that's a pretty hefty hit on the old bottom line.

rv's, boats, cycles, golf carts - whatever I can get to pay the bills. Didn't have a choice to keep the old rig. Couldn't keep up with the repairs, truck payments and insurance bills. After hitting 200k miles the truck seemed to just fall apart. I was replacing things 2x. I was faced with a 2nd tranny rebuild, @ approx. $2,500.00, an injector was bad - Dodge wanted to replace all 6 instead of the one that was bad due to the high mileage - another $3,000.00. Plus hubs, U-Joints and all the normal maintenance stuff. I just couldn't see putting all that money into a work truck with that kind of mileage on it - it's dependability was getting worse and the last few trips I made with it cost me more than I was making by breaking down. The 04.5 ran great and got fantastic mileage, at least 5 m.p.g. average better than the 07.5. That's the only thing I miss about the 04.5.
Good to see someone else is putting miles on these trucks. I haven't had any egr problems to this point and my tail pipe will still pass the white glove test. I had a throttle control valve failure at 50k and that is the only problem I've had. My truck is a cab and chassis, different emissions, different engine setup, and different transmission. It will go down the road at 35k gvcw with no problems at all, and with electric over hyd disc brakes on my trailer I can stop it with no problems.
