That 6.7 impressed me again...

I've had the 6.7 almost 2 years and thought I'd seen everything she could do in that time (I tow a 26 foot TT and a 14 foot dump trailer for work with some darn heavy loads). This weekend we went to Portal, ND to pick up some 3 cylinder, diesel, Caterpillar grain auger motors (awesome motors!!!). We weighed the trailer with the motors and it was just over 10,000 lbs. That 6.7 and the 6 speed auto is amazing. I had the Smarty set to the fuel economy tune and she was a trooper. There is a good hill just outside Regina, its no Eisenhower tunnel, but a decent pull for the prairies. Had the cruise set to 62 mph according to the gps and she only dropped 1 mph climbing that hill. At the bottom of the hill I manually dropped the tranny back to 5th and she pulled it no problem. Many times there are semi's only doing 25 or 30 mph by the time they hit the top. Once again, I'm impressed with that 6.7/

my favorite story:

pulling 2 5-6K jeeps with an 11K # dual tandem trailer, it was my first load on the 3500, i was following six or seven guys driving their jeeps @ 60mph on a 2 lane road, i knew there was a 4 mile passing lane coming up so i downshifted 6-5 and rolled into it, shifted from 5-6 and kept in it, when i passed the first Jeep i looked down and was at 95mph and still pulling... i backed her down to 70 and grinned like no tomorrow

Scotty, I would have called, but it was a quick trip. Had to get back in a hurry (frozen hydrants, pump house issues, etc). In Portal, we had a guy try and sell us our own Honda auger motor (we picked up 25 cat diesels and 1 honda), the bar we picked up the stuff was like a scene out of Deliverance (except this guys name was "Fast Eddie"). It was funny, we were sitting waiting for the guy (they could not find our 28 HP honda) and he mentioned he had this 20 hp honda for sale for $1800.00, we said, "that weird we just had a 28 hp honda delivered here for pickup". The conversation got strangely quiet and miraculously they found our "lost motor".

The highways sure were slippery on Friday night just south of Regina and Weyburn. Nothing like 10,000 pounds of truck and trailer in a 8 wheel slide on the highway...

I heard a similar story from that 'bar'. I use a different town and bar now.

I replied to your other post about the reducer.
