Angry white smoke during warm ups

It's been about 10 below zero in the past few mornings when I warm up the truck. I've been getting a lot of white smoke when I start it and eventually goes away after the truck warms up. Is this normal? Thank you for the input.

Normal.

I think the manual says that if you cycle the grid heaters a couple of times the white smoking will be minimized.

Yep, normal....you will even see a little coming out of the tailpipe on some cold mornings if you look in the side mirror.

White smoke, or condensation? At -10, I would think what you're seeing is condensation.

Condensation is just water vapor. White smoke is unburned fuel. Usually, white smoke is accompanied with somewhat rough running because (I think) white smoke can only be emitted on a cylinder that didn't fire or at least barely fired. White smoke also has an eye burning, smelly characteristic.

It's better for it to warm it up by driving it instead of letting it idle. Let it run a couple minutes to get oil circulating then drive gently for the first couple of miles.
