What is the small spring attached to valve cover for?

What is the small spring attached to valve cover for?

while removing valve cover i noticed 1 spring attached to the underside of it. its roughly 1/2" by 3" long. is it a ground for something?

It must be a "ding a ling" antenna spring that takes out stray RFI signals inside the cover. JMHO of course.
I suspect it is a carryover from some other application we have never seen.

u know what i mean though? u seen it as well?who has all seen this spring and should there only be 1? looks like theres places for 2 more?
