And what a resource it is!
And what a resource it is!
Last night about 11:30 P.M. in the middle of the biggest snow storm of the year, out pushin snow, my buddy's 2005 3500 CTD stumbles and dies.
He tried to restart it, and it would restart, and die, etc...
So he calls me and asks what I think could be the problem. I had him test for codes and p0628 comes up. I ran home and looked up the code list on the DTR and we were able to diagnose a bad lift pump. Had the truck towed to his mechanic who picked up and installed a new LP by 11:30 A.M this morning.
Total down time: 12 hours overnight.
Thanks to the good folks at the DTR we got the problem solved quickly.
I wonder how long the truck would have been down had he had to take it to the dealer?

This place is ridiculous, a huge number of us are here because of the very reason you are talking about.
Probably about 6 out of 10 people that are members from 2002-2005 have a first post that goes something like this:
"Hello, I have what might be a dumb question. When I am running down the highway my truck seems to stumble, almost like I am not even pushing the accelerator pedal"
Of course, shortly after posting that they (me) get a WHOLE new perspective on how fragile the fuel system on a 2nd Gen can be.
