What engine oil , Filter & how often ?

I have a 06 club cab 4x4 Big Horn . What engine oil and filter should I use and how often should I change ? Will Dodge still warranty using Amsoil and changing every 25,000 like they recommend ? All advice is appreciated !

Oil wars have been beat to death on this forum. Use the search and you'll have hours of reading.

25,000 miles on an oil change? Would you buy a truck when the oil has not been changed for 25,000 miles? I wouldn't, and neither would most pickup truck buyers.

You just bought a $40K truck. Use the owners manual and do what the manufacturer recommends and it will serve you well.

I use delo 15-40 and baldwin filters.I would not go 25,000 on oil changes.I do mine at 5000 miles. The farthest I would go would be 7500 miles.I would bet if you change it once every 25,000 and have motor problems DC is going to void warr. It does not say in the manual that if you are using amsoil it is ok to change at 25,000.

I use mopar oil and mopar filters. 92' has over 300k, no problems. I use o.e.m. filters on everything I own. Trucks, tractors, it don't matter. I figure they built it, they ought to know what filter is best.

I figure almost the same thing, because Cummins built it, I use FleetGuard filters. Fortunately for al involved, the Mopar filters for the Cummins happen to be rebadged FleetGuards anyway...

my '03 HO pulls a 11200 lb 5er and I use the 7500 mile oil/filter [15w-40 Rotella with Fleetguard filters]. When not towing which is most of the time now I use the 15000 mile schedule from Cummins. If you use a extended oil change schedule and go in for engine warranty don't brag to the service tech about it, synthetic or non synthetic.........JIM
