I just refueled today, and I started to zero out my mileage by pushing the button, at the same time I turned my ignition key and ALL my gauges bounced to the right, stopped and bounced back to the left, and the digital mileage numbers started spelling out messages, and I caught maybe something that said cleared. The needles looked like they were going to jump out of the dash.

 

im pretty sure its just an instrument cluster check... a friend was telling me he did it on his truck, but forgot how her did it...

 

Yup...instrument cluster check....it can also read out body codes too in the odo screen just like the engine codes with the 3 key off/on trick.

 

I did the same thing in my truck one day shortly after getting it. Freaked me the heck out, wasn't sure what to expect when I turned the key on again to start it. No problems tough, WHEW!!

 

How do know find out what the numbers that come up mean? They aren't like normal b0000 body codes are they?
