What is the silencer, where is it and what does it do? I see a lot of you have removed it.

 

If you do a search for silencer ring you will find a lot of info. Basicly it is a ring in the inlet of the turbo to keep the turbo whistle or whine quiet. Removing it only makes the whistle louder but no performance gains.
