Weird volt reading on startup

Today whenever I started my truck I noticed that the volts would not come up for atleast a minute. It did not matter what the rpms were. The volts would be about 12volts and after a minute the volts would get up to about 15-16. Anybody have this problem.

Grid heater was on, it will draw more amps than what the alternator can supply so the batteries make up the difference.

That is what I thought but it was not cycling the voltage and the engine was at operating temp.

There was another thread stating that the volt meter is actually only simulating what the computer thinks it should be while the grid heaters are cycling, hence why it doesn't go up and down as you hear the relay clicking. Supposedly even if you remove the grid heaters the guage will still drop on a cold start. Mine cycles the grid heaters when started even if already at NOT too usually, not real sure why this happens.

It's not the grid heater because that cycles on and off with no change in the reading. It's more about when the computer turns on the alternator and when the gauge shows the reading. No worries, they all do it.
