I have heard this weird grinding noise today under hard accel from a coast and also when i let off the pedal. It is pretty loud and noticiable but i cannot recreate it. it has done it twice today. I think it is either the trans or the turbo making some kind of noise.

what does turbo bark sound like?

i checked the trans fluid and it was pink.

 

im worried, this is my daily driver. anyone know what it could be.

 

the truck is not throwing any codes either. only p0602 because of the smarty.

 

would this have anything to do with the afe stage ii i have on my truck.

maybe it is turbo surge/bark.

what do those sound like?

 

i wish i could help you more, but not knowing what it sounds like im confused...does it do it stock?

i have not tried it stock yet. i think it happens if i let off the throttle then jam back on it. the more and more i think about it i think it is the turbo making a noise of some kind i have just never heard it before.

well i just put 40 miles on the truck and it ran fine. i am wondering if the noises i am hearing are coming from the AFE? How much louder does it make the turbo? Mine has gotten extremely loud after the AFE install. I think this is normal.

 

Turbo bark, in my truck, sounded just like you were running over a dog only it barked backwards, twice....
Lots of auto trucks do it when shifting into OD. It may have been doing it all along but you just never heard it until putting the louder AFE intake on it.

 

the only thing i am concered about is the AFE has been on for a couple weeks and i have never heard it before no less twice in one day like yesterday.

i didnt hear it at all today and truck still runs like a champ.

 

i thought bark occured when you let off the throttle, this noise was happening when i was applying throttle.

 

It could be resonance through the new intake.

Wreed, the AFE does come with a whooshing type sound as it shifts through the gears. But as for the turbo bark, to me, it sounds like a pop off valve. As for your noise it sounds like something other than the AFE. I have had mine on for over 10k and have had only a couple of turbo barks. Give some time and you will be able to decipher the intake and problem noise. Just my 02.
