Water Pump Failure

I have a 2006 2500 4x4 Diesel. At 67,000 the water pump failed. While it was covered under warranty, I was advised to replace the Serp Belt at $90. Also replaced the front pads for the first time without turning the rotors. Brakes work fine with no pulsing or squeeking. Other than a front differential seal, this is the only issue I have had with this truck since new.

Good deal. I think you could have gotten the belt a little cheaper elsewhere...

Mine went just at 70k...

You're lucky. My 2008 is on its 3rd water pump. Just turned 33K miles.

My 04 water pump was still doing fine at 200K. I changed it out just because it is so easy, and I replaced both idler pulleys. The pulley on the tensioner was worn down pretty good but you can get just the pulley/bearing pretty cheap and I would definitely recommend doing it. I have flushed by coolant every 100K with Zerex.

Did my original brakes at 150K and could have gone another 10-20K. I replaced them with Wager Thermo Quiets and pretty happy with 90K on them.

Mine went about 800 miles after the 100K mark.

So what do these water pumps do to let you know they are gone? I have 124K miles on my original.

The water pump will seap coolant from the weep hole. You will notice a small puddle under truck after a long drive and cooldown.

Same here...mine went about 75k (under warranty) but replaced belt too. Prety much the only prob so far..did both U-joints on the drive shaft...about to do the front ones and brakes, usual stuff. Cant kill these trucks!

Niceeeeee! That's the way it should be. I have not had any other problems with mine and expect to get 300-400K without any serious issue, like you! Great deal!
