warrenty??????????
warrenty??????????
hey guys i have an 06 ctd that i just started having transmission problems with but heres the deal 2 weeks ago i put on a 6 inch lift and 37 inch tires i was wandering if any body knew if dealers could void warranty or had been denied warranty because of big tires or lift
All the dealers in my area have said that unless the add on "directly" affects the issue component then there aren't warranty problems for them. If it were a ball joint issue or something might be a different story.
Call a few dealers in your area and talk to the Service Manager or rep and give them a what if and see what they say. Tell them you are thinking about a lift and 35" tires and was concerned that if you have tranny issues would there be any warranty issues.

Even if it looked dumb to put the stock sized tire on if you still have them or could borrow them. Assumption being tire size altered the gear ratios enough that the transmission was not able to use a correct ratio to prevent slipping or lugging with low line pressure. No matter what they tell you on the phone or in person is not going to cover your repair, unless its in writing. The local dealer hear doesn't have the skill set to perform more than C level work competently so I'm on my own anyway. Good luck
Oh I might add that there a few that feel that you have to pay to play and I agree to an extent even though my vehicle is stock, BUT for the several hundred dollars I have spent to repair missalanious things on my vehicle that were under warranty but the dealer failed to diagnose or took more than three visits it was cheaper in fuel to repair my own truck. I wholeheartedly feel the few that receive benefit of repair with minor alterations still leaves DC banking.

I would ask around and find out who the more mod-friendly dealers are before you take it in with the lift and tires. In my experience, the majority of dealers are actively looking for a reason not to honor your warantee.

Dealers are always looking for an excuse not to pay a warranty claim. You could have changed the color of the truck and somehow the dealer feels its affects the tranny.
Your best bet is if it is denied appeal the denial to the district rep or factory if needed.
If they still blow you off the factorys all have online filing of appeals where a case is opened and factory techs review the stuff. Most of the time they approve repairs. I went thru the processes many times with my dodge daytona car when the tranny had numerious failures and the factory has unwritten recalls and the dealers refused to replace the tranny until I went to the factory edited by admin

Highway, Bigger tires add stress and wear to the brakes- with additional rotating mass, suspension- with more unsprung weight like ball joints and tie rods. transmission- more traction, possible incorrect ratios. It would be great if DC would spend money training the dealers how to fix trucks and communicate with customers than how to find trace evidence of a power/economy box.
