I bought a FASS early on before I really knew how good they are. NAPA sells 2 micron filters for them and that is what I use. I add some bio every now a then for the lubricity...
This is insane!!!!!!!!!!! I just got my 06 and now I am scared i am screwing it up already!!! Should I call my local dealer and see what they have to say on the matter? Maybe they won't void me with the FASS with 2 micron filter on it?

Exactly Ronsrig
My work involves many varied industrial plants and construction sites. In my journey's I have been around water jet cutting machines. These machines can cut steel accurately to within 5 thousand of an inch. It is not the water at 20,000 psi that only cuts but a very fine micron size abrasive that is added to the mix. I have used high pressure washers to cut concrete at 15-20,000 psi. The bosch common rail high pressure injection system can exceed 23,500 psi and more if a man adds a pressure box. The whole point is to reduce the micron size to 5 or less according to the chatter. Hey don't sweat it if you trade your rig within say 3-4 years. The nozzle opening is not micron size but the action of micron particles in the fuel under high pressure has proven to erode tips and bodies. Use the search function and see what Don M found in his work with injectors. In the previous relative low pressure injected diesel worries about micron filtration was not a concern. My own thought is the higher the pressure the cleaner the filtration. Hey all the Dmax guys are doing it and they share the same fuel system basically
Well everyone is so concerned about smaller micron filtration-- How many of you guys have fixed the elbow on top of your fuel tank that is open to let in water and any other debree that might be in the vacinity. Been a problem for years. Dodge finnaly put out a recall for the 06s, but the problem exists for years past. Dodge fix is 6 inches of fuel line pushed onto the elbow. Crud can still get in there. My fix was 2 feet line hanging to tank bottom and a inline filter on the end.
This has been covered before many times, but no mention on this thread.

THere was a fitting on top of the tank that had nothing on it and was open to the dirt and water.
I checked mine and its not open like the rest I hear of.
If you have a long bed you have 2. There are recesses at the front and back of the tank that have openings for the Gassers fuel evaporation system. Both of mine were open. I could blow through them. If the tank is full this may not be possible because they have flipover valves. So if the truck turns over the fuel will put pressure on the valve and close the holes. Same thing will happen if you are full of fuel. I also have filters on my lines. Recently had the LP replaced and the tech said my tank was very very clean. Make sure you do this mod. It takes $10 to 15$ and about 30 min to complete. Clamping the lines on the niples just sucks though. Someone may think you are a sailor.
Yes, I put hoses on mine long enough to get to the filler line. Place 2 cheap clear lawnmower filers on the end and tiestrapped them facing down and in over the tank. That is the mod. You can not block the lines off or put them in a loop. They must remain open. They are located on top of the tank in a recessed area. 1 for SB and 2 for LB. Use the search function to find the threads. They have pictures.
