Valve cover(s)

Can the black cover be removed and the oil fil cap be put on the lower cover?
I want to get my black cover painted but I don't want to pull it off only to find out it has to be on to have the oil cap on.

Shouldn't be a problem. Plastic cover is just trim.

Yes. Up to 05 or 06 they are just a vanity cover.
