Ha I guess I am in trouble as mine isn't going to get fixed unless it leaks on the ground.

You may want to push the issue. According to the dealer, if a seal fails there is a potential for oil going into the intake and if you get enough of it, poof goes your motor. I will keep you posted on the results.

I'm way out of warranty. Maybe we can start a "fix my turbo before it runs away " fund??

Well I got the truck back today. Runs as good as before. Turbocharger replaced under warrantee. They also replace the turbo outlet hose and sent the intercooler to a rad shop to have the inside washed out. They found some oil in the far side of the intercooler. Glad there wasn't enough oil to cause a runaway. I noticed a whistle when I brought her up to full boost. Four of the clamps weren't even close to the proper torque. Five minutes later all was well. When I got home I put her up on stands, rotated the tires, washer her up and put the cover on. She is all set for the winter. I really do hate winter.

Smile Turbo Leak Finally Fixed

At 100,000 miles the bearing on compressor side of turbo gave out and oil began to leak on the compressor side. Took it in and since warranty had expired they sent it to a turbo shop for rebuild. When reinstalled it continued to leak some into the intake. The tech said it was not normal and ruled out the exhaust brake. It was removed twice and sent back to turbo shop where they could not find the problem. They said everything checked to specs. Leak slowly became worse. Turbo was dripping oil on compressor side, frame was wet. Went back to tech and he said he had done all he knew as he had checked for blow by and none was apparent. Oil consumption was about 1 pint in 4000 miles. Tech said to talk with Cummins West people which I did. Cummins West told me to replace it with a new turbo, poor rebuild job. I purchased one on-line and installed it myself, thoroughly cleaned the area. New turbo has 1200 miles on since I replaced it and there is no sign of oil. This turbo's boost is much more responsive and max boost is at 25 with everything stock on my 2003.
