Is this Turbo Bark?

If so, my truck does this when I shift gears while towing a heavy trailer.

My truck is almost stock. A gutted intake, delete muffler, and Rokk sensor.

Should I be concerned?

That is MEAN!!! I definatly never heard that coming from my truck. When I let off at WOT, my motor does not drop off fast, even when I hit the brakes hard. Guess I'm lucky.

Certainly is bark, pretty radical example.
I would be concerned but realize it isn't always possible to avoid barking. You should do all you can though.

No real need to let up on the throttle all the way when shifting. In fact it will be easier on the tranny and clutch if you match up the speed like the method used when shifting clutchless.

My worst barking experiences have been while using the cruise control and coming up fast on a slow rig on a hill. Brake lets off the throttle too fast, better to plan ahead and have the cruise disengage with your foot on the pedal.

Bill - would a blow-off valve prevent this on a stock 3rd gen?

I have a BD BOV on mine. I used to bark the II SPS66 all the time and it is un-nerving and irritating. Sometimes there was just no way to stop from doing it, example; accelerating to enter freeway and merge and then have cell phone user decide to slow down and switch lanes .

The BD BOV has stopped most of the barking, it is an expensive solution, but I am happy I had one installed.

I never heard the turbo bark on my old 03 SO until I got the HTB2. I was not easy on that truck either. This truck has barked the stock turbo a couple of times but I have not done it since the new turbo install. The TST is going back on this weekend, though it may be short lived, and we'll see if it barks this turbo...

Mine didn't bark but maybe once in a year and a half of having a module on it. Now with the Quad Race and a boost elbow (backed off to 39) it barked at me twice today and one other time since Friday. Always going to 6th.

Mine ,03 SO only barks when I drive 50 mph in 4 th gear (lock up)
and press the go pedal until speed is around 65 -70 mph and then sudden take my feet off the go pedal.

Only mods are predator at extreme ,and a K&N filter.

Mine has barked from day one during light acceleration as it shifts between 3rd and OD at around 45mph. This is especially true when towing, so I usually turn off the OD until I hit 55-60 if I'm thinking about it. Heavier acceleration also cures it.
