They are pretty inexpensive but I can't tell you how good they work until I get mine modified...

I plan on building myself some ladder bars one of these days. I like the GDP bars, except they are a little pricey for me and they hang too low. I am going to try and build a much lower-profile set that tucks up under the truck better. I just need to figure out how

It seems like it wouldn't be too hard to come up with something custom if you have a welder. Of course, I'm too cheap to buy a welder too....

You're not too cheap - you just don't have enough left over after that new truck payment and all those BOMBS!

Well I just happen to HAVE a welder, and a plasma cutter, and several other metal-fab tools. So I'm golden there

well i didnt modify anything on mine to install them. I was always told if you haul heavy loads dont buy them. I dont pull a trailer everyday so I put them on. I got in the road and floored it after we put them on and it didnt hop any at all. the road was wet and sandy but they seem to work. Im not paying 900for a set of bars that somebody can build me for way cheaper. I didnt want anything welded on my frame either.

Correct. 2500s don't need any modification. The 3500s have overloads and that's the issue...

I'm running a set of the tuff countrys on my truck and they work great. Only problem was drilling 4-1/2" holes in my frame. I'd call them up and talk to them and see what they say. They've always been real nice to me.

There are some that are short, 36", and go up from there, 60"+. Does length make a difference? How so?

I would think that the longer they are, the more flex they may have. I think they will work great once I'm done with them. Now I just need to find the time to get them done.....

look how long the bars are on a full blown pulling truck, like off constantly for example the bars are very long. that looks like more support to me not less.

Sure, if you are talking about ladder bars. I was referring to these traction bars. If these were 60" long I'm sure they would flex when you hammered the throttle...

Got them modified this morning and I'll have them on this weekend. Of course the snow is gone and it's 60 degrees today so I don't know when I'll get to test them out. I was surprised to see that they are hollow inside......
