Truck Tool Kit

Am looking to put together a small toolkit to keep in the truck for emergency repairs. What would you guys recommend putting in it? What size sockets/wrenches would I need. Just making sure I ain't over looking anything.

Sears/Craftsman makes some neat little zippered tool kits with sockets and some combo wrenches along with a screwdriver/tips.

I keep one of those in my truck, along with a 1/2" breaker bar and a few key sockets, and the usual (mag light, jumper cables, tow rope, extra belt).

They certainly do, and your local pawn shop is the perfect place to find a bargain on one. I have a kit for the truck and one for the camper, they were too cheap! Don't forget a spare fule filter and of course the appropriate socket.

Fuel filter and the tools necessary to change it. Spare serpentine belt and the tools necessary to change it. Duct tape, bolt stripper (crescent wrench), misc screw drivers, channel locks. I have a 7-way flat trailer light plug with pigtail wire hanging out of it and a bunch of taps becuase I tow trailers that have mangled wire harnesses with some degree of regularity. With my setup I can get on the road quickly because I don't have to rewire the trailer harness. I also carry a real lug wrench and a low profile hydraulic jack.

When I had the hard tonneau cover I had my road boxes, all the tools, emergency blankets, emergency lights, spare parts(belt, fuel filter, oil filter), and everything I could think of. Two full 24x36 utility boxes. Just felt better with all that in the back. It takes up the full back seat with the fold out floor down so I dont carry them unless on the road.

Now I have a $75 dollar Craftsman fold up tool kit, fire extinguisher, and a few essentials under the back seat. But I know the one time I have a problem I will not have that special tool or thing that I need that is back in the garage in one of the boxes.
