you could have air in the line somewhere i dont know if these trucks bleed it on their own?

the fan clutch could be broken?

the trans could be getting really hot and not allowing the coolant to cool down all the way?

rad cap could be bad, water pump could be bad, thermostat, you could have a head gasket issue. check all the fluids in the truck to make sure they are not over full! also
I will buy a new rad cap too but how would I know if that was bad? Gaskets were all done at the shop wen they changed everything after the pump went out.

I double checked the tranny fluid and it does not smell burnt but it looks like dirty oil. It no longer has the reddish tint. I will change that out and hope that helps.

Also make sure the coolant mixture was correct.

If you got too much antifreeze (by quite a bit) that can actually cause over heating.

for some reason i cannot find it?

dirty fluid is really bad in the trans. you should do a search on removiing the check ball in the trans line that may help your cooling issues. the trans fluid should be changed every 15-20 k miles. i have a built trans now and am going to do it once a year i dont drive it all that much. but just make sure you change that make sure your fluid is topped off. the thermostat is super easy to change it is three bolts and its out pop the new one in and there you go. the radiator caps have been known to just go bad.

No problem 1985cucv. Thanks for looking but I got the gist. Truck has cooled off over night and so I will spray this morning.

how much heavy? i think more water cools better. also the additive water wetter will decrease temps it is not a gimmick. the temp will prolly remain close to the same but for some reason it dissipates heat much more rapidly. i used it on my 12vavle that had a cooling issue (due to no fan and it was a mud truck) and it kept is substantially cooler.

i would definitly remove the trans check ball and change your fluid asap otherwist you may be in the market for a new trans and believe me you dont want that!

I would be looking at the thermostat myself. I know I've put one in backwards before and it causes the same effect.

I'm sure you know this, but it's worth repeating: Spray from the inside...If you spray from the outside, debris will just get trapped deeper in the radiator fins......Ben

about 60/40 water/fluid.

I will do some research about the check ball.

I will try top down, upside down, inside out, on one foot, and holding my mouth every which way; hopefully that will get it.
