Transfer case motor

Anyone had one of these fail?

What were the symptoms?

Was it an easy fix?

I also googled and found a recall on 04's for loose transfer case bolts, anyone had this problem.

Thanks, cant find anything specific to whats going on with my truck

I have a rotational knocking noise underneath, sounds like prop or transfer case area. UJ's all seem fine truck only has 45k on it and hasnt worked very hard.

If you engage 4wd the noise goes away, if you dis-engage it comes back. i wondered if the transfer case motor was going bad and it was hanging in
4wd a little bit.

Any other ideas?

It sounds like a front driveshaft U-Joint. I would take the driveshaft off and look at the U-joints. Mine looked fine until I did that and then I was able to find the bad one.
