The 2 hoses one hi pressure and 1 return are leaking on my truck. They go from the cooler to the hard trans line under the washer fliud bottle. I looked in parts and they are seperate parts but mine look like they are attached to the cooler.Has anyone had these changed? I have a 2003 so with 47 re trans.

 

i am 99% sure you have to get new hoses that run all the way back to the trans. i also have a 96 dodge gasser with the 47re in it. when i got it, it had a line leaking just like yours. i had to get the whole hose. it wasnt cheap' but i got it cheaper than most because my cousin is the parts manager at the local chrysler dealership. its not that hard to do, just time consuming routing up thru everything under the engine. dont forget to have trans fluid ready to filler up when done

 

You can see the fitting on the pressure line this picture that separates it right near the bottom of the washer bottle there. They go in/out of the heat exchanger on the back of the engine block as well, so I doubt there is any one piece that runs all the way from the front cooler to the transmission. That would be a real ***** to R&R if it did.

Good picture. The crimp clamps on the line anyway to remove them? Did they crimp it all together so you cant change the rubber lines? If i remove the crimp clamps could i replace the rubber line and use a hose clamp?

 

It's been awhile since I was in there and can't remember exactly what goes where. It takes five minutes to pull the inner fender and then you can see everything.

 

i know they sell a special tool for making those crimped fitting clamp down on the hose, i dont know if you can un-crimp it or if you have to start fresh. i dont know if a hose clamp would hold the pressure from the trans. fluid. it would suck to hose-clamp it, then take it out and blow it when there is noone there to help get you/truck back. have you priced a hose or fittings yet?

 

There's not that much pressure on the cooler lines. The fittings you see in that pic go to and from a bypass filter and have been on there for about two months with no issues.

But in your case, you just need to get in there and figure out what part you need replaced, unless you are planning to cob up some sort of temporary fix.

 

I have removed inner fender to get a better look. The picture you showed is for what year? Mine is different it does have some type of quick connects i can pivot the line around. It is like a fuel injector line fitting but i dont see how to remove without a special tool. Anyone done this. What type of tool do i need. Ihave cleaned everything to pinpoint. Drove about 20 miles dont see it yet. Maybe twisting lines has sealed it again. Lines are cheap 20 high pressure and 30 for low , for 50and a tool i will just change them. I need someone who can tell me how to get these fittings off.

 

u need to buy the quick connet fuel line removal tools like show here http://www.autobarn.net/xxxw-ap-7892...te=google_base but u dont need a whole set, i dont remember what size u need but u can buy them for $5.00 a piece elswhere. just push it in and pull. there is an oring in there thats leaking. Ive done my a few on my 99, but i cut and splice new hoses and just clamp them. they have never re-leaked in years. some people have a problem with that, but i dont.

 

Thanks mini 14 The 1\2 line removal tool works on mine. I got a set at napa .The lislie fuel set removal tools i have are not good for the job too short and plastic. Now that i can get them off i can replace them.
