tranny troubles
Thanks i'm going to run that past them. When i got there what they were telling me is that they contacted star and this is the info. in traffic i was setting at just the right rpm that it was causing the computer to try and figure out what gear it needed to be in hence the weird shifting. i can say that if i give it just a bit more of the fun peddle it will shift fine. i still don't know if i buy their story 100%. i'm going to give it some time if it gets worse or anything of the sort it will be back.
gov. that is bad, will not let trans down shift or upshift correctly .the 48re does not have more line pressure ,I can assure you of that. they all have been set at 90 psi for years since going to the electronic governor. more line pressure will not allow it to shift correctly ,as the electronics see to much. ats has electronics to fool the ecm and let you crank up the pressure. however the tc should be slipping at low speed not allowing it to feel like it is a clutch still engaged. bad vfs(gov) most times gives you fast upshifts, no down shifts and second gear starts. for those that want to know, vfs is the gov (lil round one), tranducer is the one off the side and reads the pressure. they have used differant models of it over the years.
When my '01.5 did that with it's 47RE (same tranny with less beef) it was the governor pressure sensor/solenoid. On my '03 when I did the first tranny fluid and filter change, I noticed the wiring harness to the solenoid/sensor assembly was rubbing against the edge of the valve body and about worn through some wires. I bent the harness away from the VB. I've always wondered if I was headed for the same problem with the '03.
My tranny had similar problems, Took it to the dealer last week and they said there was a TSB on the wiring harness. They replaced the harness from the tranny computer across the top of the firewall to the driver side and down to the tranny. They said they have had water intrusion problems with them. Shifts like brand new now. All under warranty.
what they are saying as the outcome was with the 35" tires they had to go in and reconfigure the pinion factor because it was making the computer confused as to what gear it needs to be in. it seems to be little better but i don't know. i think sometimes i make myself paranoid with every little sound or twitch. i've already worried myself so much that i got rid of the superchips programer then tried a dr performance and again i start reading a few horror stories then hear a little noise now i'm taking it off and leaving it stock. i am going to just drive the truck and if the tranny starts doing something really stupid then i'll take it in again.
