Towing egt's - rule of thumb

Hello everyone - I tow a 34' Featherlite enclosed trailer, with a light to medium load my egt's are still really safe - around 850f at 18 psi boost. I am running a smarty jr, I believe sw3.

I ask this question because I think I have some room for adjustments for better efficiency. Also, I get a little black on acceleration / trailer after using the smarty versus stock has black stain on the lower front passenger from the exhaust. What adjustments can be made to reduce the raw fuel out of the exhaust / black smoke?

Any suggestions would be appreciated

I will look into the exact settings on the smarty jr

By the way - last year I had my smarty and mileage max box together which netted an additional .5 mpg when towing. I think the mileage max is nothing more than timing adjustment. The forum suggested I remove - maybe it adds / adjusts the timing too much when used together

I would think that towing on SW 1 and the lowest TQ setting (least amount of torque) would help you a little. I run SW1 TM3 TM4 when I tow. I do it mostly to get some timing to help with my injectors.
