towin engin temps

towin engin temps

i was driving home the other night hauling 16 foot horse trailer running bout 75 and noticed the truck running aroun 209 degrees i was wondering is that high or should it stay around 190 i checke the coolant and it was full and looked clean i was just curious if i should change something to help with the temp or just leave it. thanks

Mine runs between 190 and the highest 215 when towing 12k lbs.

Mine never gets over 205. Your temps are OK but I would make sure the fan clutch is engaging. With the A/C on at speeds below 25 you should be able to hear it engage.

209 isn't bad at all. If it doesn't adversely affect fuel mileage, don't worry about it.

If you want lower temps, the first thing I would do is add a couple bottles of a surfactant like Red Line "Water Wetter", or Royal Purple "Purple Ice"

mine does the same and then levels out

learned to live with it... even after a new radiator, hoses, flush, fill, and fanclutch... did the same thing...
