Tow/Haul
Its not supposed to shift into overdrive with the tow/haul activated. The purpose of that feature is to keep the tranny from repeatedly shifting back and forth when towing upgrade etc. Maybe I don't understand your question.
Dodge trucks are not equipped with tow/haul mode. The button on the end of the automatic gear shifter is nothing more than a switch thats turns overdrive on and off. That is, if your Dodge is similarly equipped as most other Dodge's are.
The 04.5's have the tow haul feature on the auto's.
Yes, when the button is pushed and the little light on the dash comes on, it keeps you out of overdrive and locks the TC sooner (2nd and 3rd I believe) than it otherwise would.

Yea, the 03's function identically to the 04's. Still, Dodge does not market a feature called tow/haul just as they do not market a crewcab. Call it what you will. Tow/haul modes offered on the other two USA trucks electronically prolong shift patterns (amongst other things)when engaged. The 48re shift patterns are prolonged manually via the shifter or the go pedal.

Ok people, yes it is called "TOW/HAUL" what it does is NOT the same as the Ferd or Chubby. On the RAM is locks out O/D and allows the tranny to lock the torque converter in a lower gear so that you are appling all of that massive power to the road and not loosing it in the tranny
This is NOT rocket science, just push the "Tow/Haul or O/D off" button and start driving at a resonable rate and count how many time it shifts up to just over 50mph. Then repeat the same thing with the BUTTON NOT pressed and count the shifts again.
Should see a difference in shift #'s and when it shifts and the rpm's at the different speeds.
OK I'm done

Yeah it's pretty basic stuf going on here..we're talking about........not really rocket science.
Tow/haul or OD off......same thing......doesn't let the tranny shift into OD.
I tow from NY to ME.....7500lb. trailer in OD........only one mountain I shift out of OD for.
The tranny will pretty much take care of itself.........it tells you in your manual that if it gets hot, it will shift out of OD until cooled down some, then back to OD.
I have never had my tranny shift out of OD.
Read your manual it will tell how to use it.

Yeah. Darn autos haha. Ive been playing with that tow/haul thing when driving in town to "lock up" the converter. I dunno. Sure doesnt feel locked. If your in 3rd gear in something like a manual and stop on it she jerks. The auto still just runs right along
