Tone Ring Mod

I wanted to advance my timing approx. 2 deg. by doing the tone ring modification. I thought that it was as simple as marking the tone ring, removing four bolts, & slotting the dowel pin hole. Soem that have done this described this as a 15 minute mod. Seemed easy enough, but when I crawled underneath, I could not get good access to the tone ring. Does the radiator shroud need to be removed? The radiator? What else?

Easy...

The fan shroud is soft rubber. I just unbolted mine from the bottom and wedged it under the fan. Plenty of room. It just looks hard, but it was real easy. Try it and you'll see what I mean.

when you take the two nuts off the brackets, pull the shroud back towards the front and start the nuts back on the studs.then let the shroud sit back down on the nuts...plenty of room then.........bama
