which tires and wheels??
which tires and wheels??
Ok i have a 2005 2500 quad cab short bed. Right now I have the stock rims and 285 70 R17 Goodyear Wrangler MT/R tires. I want to get new wheels for my truck and was wanting a new look and thought I would have you guys help me decide. My truck is Patriot blue with the gray bottom. I was looking at these http://www.4wheelparts.com/4wp/packa...arentPacID=127 which are about the same price as the a set of four goodyear's on my truck but also had concern with them fitting? Will 315 75 R16 fit under my truck or will they rub. If it is minor rubbing I don't really car just major rubbing. I just want a new look for the truck and this place I am looking at seems pretty good unless anybody else can help me out but I want some good off road traction and new rims with at least a 285 tire.
you might want to check how much clearance there is between the stock rims and your brake calipers as i have seen some info. on here and over at TDS that there is very little room between the two.

Well as a rule 16s will NOT fit on your truck. I spoke with a guy at the performance shop last week. There are a couple of company's that now make a 16inch rim specifically for the dodge truck....Get this they shave down to a minimum amount of metal to allow clearence of the calipers/rotors.....he said they have been tested and show minimal failures....However there is no way I would do this....the metal if pretty "thinned out" as he put it. Maybe on a pretty boy show truck...but no way on something like a 2500 that will see any type of off road or towing...

There's an increasing assortment of tires & wheels that will work properly on your truck. No need to spend $35k or $40k on a truck and then run a set of "botched" wheels & tires on your nice investment.
I run some LT33x12.50R17 Mastercraft Courser C/T's on my truck and I've been exceptionally pleased with them. I also work at an S&S Tire in Lexington, KY......I just sold a set of LT35x12.50R17 Mastercraft Courser C/T's on a 2003 Dodge RAM 2500...they worked great on the OE alloys and only rubbed the upper arms on really tight lock-to-lock turns. My customer was quite happy.
Here's a link to my truck pic....can't remember if it was in the gallery or not:

SO will I have any trouble fitting 315 70 R17 under my truck or will they rub? and if so how bad will they rub. If it is only at a sharp turn I really won't care that much but if it is a constant every bounce they rub I will be concerned and will not buy them.
There is a TON of discussions about size on here if you search...Basically it boils down to some people have a small amount of rub with 315 at FULL lock...some dont have any at all. You can add a 2inch leveling spacer to the front and wont have any rub..and 315s will fit on the factory rim...
i run 315's on mine with a spacer(2"), i think that they would rub with out the spacer, pretty close at full turn lock to lock.
i went through the same thing , 4x4 shop told me 16" rims would fit no problem, not a chance, not even close. stay away from 16.5" rims as they are out dated and hard to get rubber for. 16.5" rims were cool back in the 70's!!!!!!
you will be more then happy with the new look of your truck with the 315's

i have a question too,,,,,,,i was looking at the pro comp x treme alloy series 1069`s,,,,,planning on maybe a 17x9,,,what backspacing would be what you would want??thinking maybe the 33x12.50x 17`s all terrains....any thoughts??i was looking on the links section on 4 wheel customs.....thanks
Ok well I am looking at a different set of extreme alloys 1069 17x9 but what bolt pattern do I get 8x170mm or 6 1/2? I am getting pro comp radial all terrain 33 x 12.50 R17 but my only problem is it fitting under my truck and the backspacing, I think they have a 5 inch backspacing so will that be ok or not and if it is not what do I have to do?. After it's all said and done I don't want any problems after I get them Alot of people said that they will rub all the time. If they rub all the time then I don't want them but if they only rub at a sharp turn I don't care so am I gonna have any major rubbing problems or just minor. It seems to be a really good deal and don't want to miss up on this oppurtunity so please any advice?
