Tire Size Correction Factor

what is the formula for getting the actual mileage with my size tires, 295/70/17?

say I got 350 miles to the tank without a correction......what would my actual mileage be?

I believe I am putting more miles on the truck than it actually is showing but I dont know how much more. If someone could help me out that would be great. thanx

5.2% correction 70 mph = 73.64 corrected. 350 miles = 368.2 traveled.

Kind of a dumb question here, but what is the stock tire size for our trucks?

You can't correct your fuel mpg just with a percentage of tire sizes. Correct the odometer then calculate the fuel mileage from actual miles traveled and fuel used.

You can only correct the speedometer error with the percentage difference.

Pay the dealer about 70$ to set the pinion factor, or get something like a BullyDog that allows you set it as well.
Places like tirerack.com list the pinon factor for the brand/size tires you have.

I like this one

Lets you plug in gear ratios for each gear and holds them on the screen to compare

Just in case you don't have the calculator on the PC handy, it's width (295) divided by 25.4 (conversion factor to inches), multiplied by the aspect ratio percentage (.70), multiplied by 2 (2 sidewalls), plus the rim height (17)=33.26 inches. Width of the tread is 11.61 inches. Of course actual sizes may vary a little due to mfg's actual specs.

That's why I used the "revs per mile" figure for the tire. Each manufacturer tests this for the actual tire, not just what it's supposed to be nominally.
